SPRINGFIELD — A man found stabbed on a bench outside the entrance to the Hampton Inn told police he didn’t know the man who stabbed him, according to an incident report.

Officers responded around 6:20 p.m. Saturday to the hotel at 101 W. Leffel Lane, where they found the 37-year-old victim bleeding on the bench.

According to the incident report, the victim suffered a cut to his liver and had bleeding inside his chest wall following the stabbing. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition this afternoon, a spokeswoman said.

The victim was not able to give police a detailed description of the suspect, but did say the attacker ran toward another hotel in the area. Police searched the area near the other hotel, however no arrests or charges have been filed due to a lack of information on the attacker.

The victim said he thought the man may have used a screwdriver to stab him.
