The latest unemployment data from the state shows both initial unemployment claims and continued claims dropped during the Thanksgiving holiday week.
Last week, there were 27,750 initial claims files and 256,776 continued claims filed.

Since the pandemic began, the state has paid out more than $7.4 billion in unemployment compensation payments to more than 855,000 Ohioans. There has also been more than $7.2 billion in pandemic unemployment assistance payments to more than 710,000 Ohioans.
The pandemic unemployment assistance program is one of several unemployment programs that will change or end this month.
