The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families is awarding the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund more than $3 million for efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect.
According to a release, a federal grant totaling of $3.74 million will be rewarded in over five years to the OCTF. The money will support the development of comprehensive child and family well-being systems designed to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Kristi Burre, director of the Governor’s Children’s Initiative, said the grant will help build upon the work that the OCTF and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services are already doing.
“Preventing child maltreatment requires a collective commitment to strengthening and supporting families in their own communities. This grant will help create the conditions necessary for Ohio’s families and children to grow and thrive,” Burre said.

One of the prevention initiatives that will be funded by the grant is the establishment of a Cross-Sector Implementation and Planning Team that will develop a collaborative strategy and shared vision for child abuse and neglect prevention.
