COLUMBUS — It is now illegal for animal shelters to use gas chambers to euthanize pets in Ohio.
The new rules went into effect this week and enhance Goddard’s law. The law classifies felony animal abuse crimes as acts of violence.
With this new law, offenders would have the charge on their record for a lifetime.
Gov. Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 164 into law, effective April 3, ensuring that offenders will have a lifetime offense.
