Neighbors calling for stoplight after 2 killed in crash

SPRING VALLEY — Nearly 4,500 people have signed an online petition that asking officials to install a stoplight at the intersection of U.S. 42 and Spring Valley Paintersville Road, where two people were killed in a crash Sunday.

The intersection currently has a flashing traffic signal that flashes yellow in one direction and red in the other.

The petition cites the “vast amount of accidents and now the loss of two lives” as the reason for the request.

Prior to the crash Sunday, 28 other crashes had happened at the intersection since 2012, according to records released by the state patrol.  Of those 28 crashes, 18 involved injuries, data showed.

Brook Fudge, 23, of Xenia and Sherill Cruea, 25, of Fairborn, were occupants on a motorcycle when they were killed in a crash at the intersection around 7 p.m. Sunday.

Another driver was turning left onto U.S. 42 from Spring Valley Paintersville Road when the crash occurred.
