DAYTON — A local area high school is excelling in the 2023 Winter Guard Invitational (WGI) in Dayton this weekend.

The Miamisburg Winds Group finished in second place Saturday in the preliminary round and will be Scholastic Open finalists, according to the high school band’s social media page.
They will perform Sunday afternoon at 12:50 p.m. at UD Arena.
The Valhalla Winds finished in third place in the Independent Open and will perform Sunday at 1:50 p.m.
Sunday is the final day of the 2023 WGI World Championships in Dayton, according to their website.
The Color Guard Championships were held April 7-9 while the percussion and winds world championships are this weekend.
The WGI will return to Dayton next year.
