Marijuana eradication yields $97K of marijuana in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY — A marijuana eradication search resulted in the seizure of approximately $97,000 worth of marijuana, according to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office press release.

The sheriff’s office, Ohio BCI and a pilot from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office utilized a helicopter, as well as air and ground support to search Shelby County Wednesday.

Four plants were located in Jackson Township, which lead to a search warrant being issued for a residence, according to the release.

Marijuana processing equipment, about four pounds of processed marijuana, marijuana liquid processing equipment and THC liquid were recovered during the search.

Detectives also reportedly located 50 vaping devices containing approximately one gram of liquid THC with 90 percent concentration that valued at $75 each.

Marijuana plants were discovered at two locations in Washington Township, read the release.

Twenty-seven plants were located at the first scene and 61 plants were discovered at the second scene.

At the first scene, detectives also found three large containers of processed marijuana that weighed about one pound, according to the release.

In total, 92 plants with a street value of approximately $92,000 were discovered. Including approximately five pounds of processed marijuana, the day yielded about $97,000 worth of marijuana, read the release.

Investigations are still pending. The cases will be presented to the Shelby County Prosecutor for review, according to the report.
