SHELBY COUNTY — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man who died when a tree he was cutting struck him Saturday around 3 p.m.

Randall Marchal, 64, of Russia, was cutting down a tree with two of his family members when the tree ‘kicked back’ and fell in the opposite direction it was expected to, according to John Lenhart, Shelby County sheriff.
Marchal was found dead at the scene when police arrived at 2340 Russia-Houston Road near Russia in Shelby County.
