DAYTON — An area World War II veteran is celebrating turning 104 years old.
John Dorsey was born in Tuskegee, Alabama in 1919 and served in the Army from 1942 until 1946, according to a media release by the Dayton VA.
After the army, Dorsey moved to the east coast then Dayton which he has since called home. He retired from Dayton Power and Light Co.
He is a member of Corinithan Baptist Church where he has sung in the male and senior choirs.

He and his wife had four children, six children and 13 great-grandchildren.
Dorsey’s daughter Sandra said he is “a loving, caring father and friend.”
The secret to his long life? “The Lord, it’s all up to the Lord,” he said.
