Local J.C. Penney set to close today

BELLEFONTAINE — The department store is set to close its location in Bellefontaine today.

The Fontaine Plaza J.C. Penney on South Main Street in Bellefontaine is scheduled to close on Sunday, May 16.

They made the announcement on their company blog, where they include other upcoming closings across the country as well.

Last year J.C. Penney filed for bankruptcy as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
