MIAMI VALLEY — A dashboard camera inside a car damaged by the Miami Valley tornadoes shows the moment a tornado came through the area.
The car was just one of thousands damaged or destroyed when 15 tornadoes touched down in the Miami Valley.
Many cars were abandoned or need repairs, but people who want to get their car fixed may have to be patient.
Repair places such as Carl’s Body Shop are swamped with customers.
They’ve worked to set up a one-stop shop with insurance company representatives and their own employees doing estimates, trying to move people through as quickly as possible.
“We were hauling cars in right off the highway on Wagner Ford, one was a van,” said Carl’s Body Shop employee Matt Miller. “A family, it [the tornado] picked up their van, flipped it around and a steel beam went through the back, missed a young girl by a couple inches. I knew it was bad when I seen that car.”
WHIO is also working to reach out to customers that had to bring their cars in for repairs.
