Firefighters were dispatched to the Stoneridge apartments in the 100 block of Misty Oaks Court around 12:30 a.m. after the fire was reported.

Clayton Fire Chief Brian Garver told News Center 7 four nearby fire stations all reported a loud boom moments before the fire was reported at the complex. While the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, a lightning strike is being investigated as one of the potential causes.

The fire caused damage to a total of 12 units at the complex, Garver said. Only one of those units sustained fire damage while the others had electrical issues, possibly caused by a lightning strike.

The fire and electrical issues forced 11 families to be displaced, Garver said. Those displaced were working with apartment management and the American Red Cross for housing assistance.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

Fire departments from Clayton, Englewood, Union, Trotwood, Harrison Twp. and Vandalia all responded to help battle the fire.
