A Las Vegas man has died from his injuries after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 33 Thursday.
Peter Charles Weitz, 37, of Las Vegas, was transported to St. Ritas hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to state troopers.
Two-vehicles were involved in the head-on crash on U.S. 33 east of Santa Fe Line Road around 5:15 p.m., troopers said.
Peter Charles Weitz was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Peter Carl Weitz, 66, who was transported to St. Ritas hospital by Life Flight with serious injuries, troopers said.
The Weitz’s Chevrolet Silverado was struck after Douglas Stearly, 19, of Trappe, Pennsylvania, drove his Dodge Ram across the center line to avoid slowed traffic in front of him, according to troopers.
Peter Carl Weitz attempted to avoid Stearly’s vehicle by driving off the right side of the road, but ultimately could not avoid a collision.
According to troopers, none of the people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Stearly was treated for his injuries at the scene and refused transport to a local hospital.
