COLUMBUS — Embattled former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder returned to the Statehouse today to attend the House session, even though he is facing federal bribery and racketeering charges.

After the charges were announced by the FBI, the House voted to remove him as Speaker, but declined to remove him from his position as a member of the House of Representatives.
Throughout the votes today, Householder was seen sitting quietly in a desk on the House floor, rising only to voice his vote for or against each bill under consideration.
His return to the Statehouse is a major departure from the last Speaker to come under scrutiny of the FBI. Then, former Speaker Cliff Rosenberger resigned on his own and never returned to the Statehouse. Rosenberger was never charged.
