Lockdown lifted at Kettering Health’s Miamisburg hospital; suspect in custody after multi-agency response

MIAMISBURG — A person is in custody after a multi-agency response to Kettering Health Miamisburg, formerly Sycamore Medical Center, prompted a lockdown as police and firefighters searched inside for a suspect.

Multiple police departments, including Dayton, Miami Twp. and Miamisburg, responded to the hospital around 3:30 p.m. and the suspect was in custody by around 4:10 p.m.

The Dayton Police Department said in a statement that police, with the assistance of an Ohio State Highway Patrol aviation unit, was conducting “crime reduction initiative” for a subject wanted for felony warrants. The suspect was located this afternoon and fled from police in a vehicle, to the area of Kettering Health Miamisburg.

The suspect was found between the first and second floors of the hospital, according to initial reports. The fire department assisted police by using thermal imaging cameras to locate the suspect.

According to DPD and Kettering Health, the hospital was on lockdown for approximately 30 minutes.

Kettering Health officials said no patients or staff at the medical center were harmed.

Additional details on what the suspect was wanted for was not immediately released.
