June 3rd marks the initial installment of Austin Landing's First Fridays, the charity event series that promises good times, great food and drinks, and some amazing entertainment.

The event, which runs from 6-10 p.m., will feature killer 80s jams performed by Dayton's own rock group, Stranger. Not only that, but Chris Mulcahy will kick off the festivities by hosting an epic Lip Sync Battle. The best part, however, is that all proceeds from ticket and beer sales will be donated to the Therapeutic Riding Institute.

TRI is a local charity that has been providing horseback riding lessons to children with special needs, veterans, and youth at risk for over 40 years. The nonprofit serves about 200 people annually, and all you need to do to lend them a hand is show up to First Friday, have a great time, and maybe even show off your performance skills.

In order to participate in the Lip Sync Battle, you'll need to register here. Twenty lucky contestants will be selected to go head-to-head for the $250 grand prize. It's your chance not only to score some quick loot, but also to earn some serious bragging rights.

First Friday at Austin Landing is an outdoor event, and they're not about to let a little rain stop them, so be prepared for a great time, no matter the weather. (Well, OK, lightning and high winds can bring everything to a screeching halt.)

Everyone is welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets for a bit of relaxation on a lovely summer night. Please do not bring coolers, however, as both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase when you get there.

Tickets to the event are only $5, so there's really no good reason not to go. You can buy your tickets online or at the door. Both you and the good people at the Therapeutic Riding Institute (TRI) will be happy you did.
