GREENE COUNTY — A Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy sustained a ‘serious’ injury after being struck by a vehicle while investigating a separate crash on US Route 35 early Monday morning.

Around 1:20 a.m., a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy was investigating a crash on US-35 Westbound near mile marker 27 when they were struck by a passing vehicle, according to a press release from the department.

The Deputy was transported to Miami Valley Hospital Main Campus for treatment.
The Deputy sustained a serious lower leg injury that will require surgery. They are listed in stable condition at this time.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded and is assisting in the crash investigation.
“The Greene County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the Silvercreek Township Fire Department for their rapid response and exceptional medical care provided at the scene,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “We would also like to thank our Greene County law enforcement partners for their assistance and support during and after the incident.”
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
