Greenville man falls asleep, crashes into utility pole

DARKE COUNTY — A Greenville man fell asleep at the wheel before crashing into a utility pole in Darke County Tuesday night, according to a sheriff’s office release.

Craig Goubeaux, 32, was sent to Wayne HealthCare with a head injury when the Dodge Dakota he was driving travelled off the left side of the highway and hit a utility pole.

Deputies said the crash on Ohio 49 and Hollansburg-Sampson Road caused power outages for some residents in the area.

Goubeaux was not wearing a seat belt, according to deputies, and the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
