A court ordered a Greene County compost facility to cease operations after complaints from neighbors. Neighbors filed a civil lawsuit in July 2014 against Horning’s Farm on Route 42 in Spring Valley, citing health and safety concerns.
Raymond Dundes, a magistrate in Greene County Common Pleas Court, on Wednesday ruled Horning’s Farm is “operating as a business that is not an agricultural use, and therefore subject to zoning regulation.” The court ruled Horning’s Farm must stop composting operations since it’s not permitted on the land due to the way it is zoned.
