Greene County Sheriff’s Office announces change to CCW application process

GREENE COUNTY — The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is making a change to their concealed carry permit application process after receiving an “overwhelming” demand for change.

Starting Monday, May 3 anyone applying for a CCW permit or wanting a web-check background check must first make an appointment.

Previously, the Sheriff’s Office allowed walkups on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Sheriff Gene Fischer said that the office will continue to process requests on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., but individuals will need to have an appointment.

Greene County residents who choose to not use the appointment process will be able to take part in walk-ups on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In a release, Fischer said the change simultaneously lessens the burden of the staff and brings the office into line with most other Ohio sheriff offices.
