Funeral services conclude for 14-year-old killed by stray bullet

Funeral services Friday for a Dayton teen killed by a stray bullet were well attended and paid for by the community at Carroll High School where she attended class.

Mackenna Kronenberger, 14, was killed by a stray bullet earlier this month. Her half-brother, Jason Tidwell, 18, was indicted Thursday on a murder charge in her killing.

A grand jury declined to indict another man charged, Dylan Angel, citing insufficient evidence.

A spokeswoman with the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s office told News Center 7’s John Bedell the 18-year-old remains under investigation, but did not provide further details.

Kronenberger’s funeral services were held at The Vineyard Church in Beavercreek. One of the church’s pastors told Bedell the funeral was well attended, as was her viewing on Thursday.

Donors covered the cost of Kronenberger’s final expenses, according to a Facebook post from Carroll High School. Additional funds that were raised would be used for financial support of current students at the high school.

Dayton police said Tidwell and Angel were arguing outside Kronenberger’s home, while she was inside, and fired gunshots at each other. A stray bullet came into her home and killed her.

Tidwell is scheduled to be arraigned on the formal charges against him Tuesday.
