Former Moraine motel now fire training center

MORAINE — Moraine firefighters have a new training spot, for now.

Moraine Fire Department is using the former Relax Inn on South Dixie Drive to practice life-saving actions.

Winsupply, a private industrial company bought the Inn, and until they figure out what to do with the property the fire department will use the site.

“It is life or death. A lot of times you don’t get to practice this stuff even in school because they have simulators ... So actually getting to cut into a hole in a roof, feeling how spongey it is, and where to stand, those are all essential in knowing to go home safe. That’s our ultimate goal,” Lt. Traci Kuzminksi with Moraine Fire Department said.

Winsupply’s purchase comes after the company bought 3300 Kettering Boulevard.

That building now houses Winsupply of Dayton and the Richard W. Schwartz Center for Innovation.
