News Center 7 previously reported a fire at the same location on Sunday, where a shed next to a residence caught fire.
“We got called out here for a fire. By the time our crews got out here, it was very well involved,” Dayton Fire Captain Sean Englert said.
Fire crews went into a defensive operation which means the firefighters do not go inside the structure, and instead attack the fire from the outside.
“We don’t put any people inside the building. We were worried just about protecting the exposures,” Englert said. “The only exposure we have is an apartment on the other side. Make sure the fire doesn’t spread to any other buildings.”

Due to the hot weather, extra crews are staffed. 30 firefighters responded to the scene initially, but several crews were dismissed as the fire was under control.
Englert said that despite the near-record high temperatures expected later today, the heat from the fire wasn’t terrible due to the cooler morning temperatures.
“It wasn’t too bad, but you can tell it’s already pretty hot out,” Englert said.
Photos from the scene showed that the structure was almost completely destroyed, with most of the walls and much of the roof missing.
