Occupants displaced after fire damages West Carrollton apartments

UPDATE @ 11:05 a.m.:

Three occupants of a six-unit apartment building in West Carrollton will be displaced after a fire broke out Monday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched around 8:30 a.m. to the 1100 block of Bishop Drive and reported heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof of one of the apartments.

No injuries were reported, and the occupant of the apartment where the fire started was not home at the time, West Carrollton Fire Chief Chris Barnett said..

Three occupants were displaced, and the American Red Cross will provide assistance, according to Barnett.

Occupants of the other units will be allowed to return after smoke conditions air-out, Barnett said.

Damage is estimated between $60,000 and $70,000, according to Barnett.

Miami Valley Fire and Moraine Fire assisted with the structure fire.

The smoke detectors are being checked and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
