Fire at Troy Laminating causes $30K in damage

UPDATE @ 10:50 p.m.: The fire at Troy Laminating IVEX Corp. caused an estimated $30,000 in damage, Troy fire officials said.

According to the preliminary report, an exhaust duct to a coating oven overheated and ignited residue that had settled in the duct work. The fire also damaged a section of roofing at the facility.

Troy fire crews were assisted by crews from neighboring Casstown. There were no injuries

FIRST REPORT

Fire crews responded to a Troy business on reports of a fire Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 1:30 p.m. at Troy Laminating and Coating Co. in the 400 block of South Union Road.

The fire is believed to have started in a piece of machinery on the first floor, according to News Center 7 Steve Baker who is on scene. The fire then went through a vent and spread to the roof.

No injuries were reported and the fire appears to be out.
