Dryer fire displaces resident at West Carrollton apartment building

WEST CARROLLTON — UPDATE @ 3:50 a.m: One resident was displaced after a dryer fire occurred at their West Carrollton apartment building early Monday.

Fire crews responded to the 900 block of Gawain Circle and were met with heavy smoke coming from the building’s first floor, according to Capt. Nick Sanders with the West Carrollton Fire Department.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which was contained to the one apartment unit.

Damage estimates were not immediately available, though the inside of the apartment sustained “quite a bit of damage near the kitchen area where the dryer was located”, Sanders said.

RedCross was called to aid the displaced resident, who escaped the building unharmed.

The incident remains under investigation.

Crews responded to a reported fire at an apartment building on Gawain Circle Monday morning.

Initial reports indicate a dryer was reportedly on fire inside a residence in the 900 block around 2:35 a.m.
