Electrical problem looked at in Englewood house fire

An electrical problem is getting the focus as the cause of a fire that damaged a house Monday and sent a resident to a hotel for the night.

Crews were dispatched to the 900 block of Union Road at about 6:30 p.m. on a report of a small fire in a single-story dwelling.

There were no injuries and crews contained the fire to an exterior wall, Englewood fire Lt. Jordan Samson said.

The cause remains under investigation, but the fire appeared to have started in the front wall, where the electric service comes into the house, Samson said.

He estimated the damage at "a few thousand dollars."

The man who lives at the address will stay at a hotel for the night, Samson said.
