Driver indicted in early-morning wreck

A 22-year-old Fairborn man is facing charges from a wreck on Spangler Road in Bethel Twp.

Jade Mead, 3050 Bell Drive, has been indicted three counts of aggravated vehicular assault and three counts of operating a vehicle under the influence for his actions in an early-morning July 18 accident.

The accident, which caused four people to be taken to the hospital, occurred about 2:30 a.m. when the vehicle Mead was driving hit a barn, authorities said.

CareFlight was called to the scene to transport a female passenger, identified as Savannah M. Jones, 21, to Miami Valley Hospital. Mead and two others - Ross A. Medley, 21, of New Carlisle and Danielle M. Hill, 21, of Huber Heights - were also injured.

Investigators said the vehicle was travelling north on Spangler Road just north of Union Road, when the driver, identified as Mead, exited the right side of the road. He then drove through a chain-link fence before smashing into the barn, authorities said.

Mead fled the scene of the crash, according to investigators, but was later located in the 100 block of East Main Street in Medway. He was transported to the hospital to be checked out.
