DAYTON — The Dayton Dragons’ historic sellout streak will live to fight another day.

A spokesperson for the team told News Center 7 just after 5 p.m. that their sellout streak is still active tonight. This comes after the team announced it was in jeopardy in late March.

“The community responded very well. We are encouraged that the streak will continue through this homestand. We encourage the community to continue to engage with the Dragons about ticket opportunities in 2023,” Tom Nichols, Director of Media Relations & Broadcasting for the Dragons, said.

The team has sold out every single year since their debut in 2000, but officials told News Center 7 last month that ticket sales are down this year, despite the new bars, hotels and construction bringing people to the Water Street District, Deutsch said ticket sales are down.

“We’re still suffering from a little bit of a Covid malaise,” Eric Deutsch, Executive Vice President for the Dragons, said, noting the additional impacts of inflation and a fears of a potential recession.

The Dragons broke the record for the most sold out games in 2011 with 815 games, beating out an NBA team.

Season and single game tickets can be purchased here.

The Dragons host their first home game tonight at 7:05 p.m. They take on the Great Lake Loons.
