Uno is one of the 32 dogs at the Miami County Animal Shelter that will be up for adoption soon. The 30-plus dogs are all doing well since being rescued from a condemned home in Troy.

“They seem to be doing better,” Miami County Animal Shelter Director Rob Craft said.

Now the shelter is starting the process of setting the dogs up for adoption.

“We have 13 dogs so far scheduled to be spayed and neutered this week,” Craft said.

Craft said all of the dogs would need to be fixed before they could be adopted.

“We have two happening today, eight happening Thursday, three happening on Wednesday,” Craft said.

The shelter hopes to spay and neuter all the dogs as soon as possible since they are overflowing with dogs.

“We have 32 kennels; right now we have over 60 dogs in our shelter,” Craft said.

17 of the 32 dogs are already being fostered, and the shelter provides fosters with supplies.

In addition to fosters, shelter workers are also asking for help with donations.

“Things that we still are in need of would be water buckets, flea medications, collars, and leashes slip leads, those are all things we obviously use, and with such a big influx of animals, if the public is able to help with any of those, we would appreciate it,” Craft said.
