Planned maintenance closes Aquatic Center at Vandalia Recreation Center for nearly 2 months

VANDALIA — The Aquatic Center at the Vandalia Recreation Center closed Monday for an extended period of time.

Starting today, the recreation center’s heating, ventilation and air cooling system (HVAC) will begin to be replaced.

“As the work is being done, there will be interruptions in program offerings,” city officials said in a flyer posted to social media.

The Aquatic Center will be closed for six to eight weeks while the new HVAC system is installed.

The rest of the center will remain open during this maintenance, but officials noted that the gymnasium may experience closures at some points.

“Our mission is to provide quality services throughout the duration of this project with as few programing and facility interruptions as possible,” officials said.
