COLUMBUS — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced who will become chairwoman of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).

Jenifer French, of Westerville, will serve until April 10, 2024.

French is replacing Samuel Randazzo, and the appointment is waiting confirmation from the Ohio Senate, a press release from the governor’s office stated.

“As a judge, Jenifer French was known for studying all of the complex facts, and sorting through them to come to a just conclusion,” DeWine said.

“Her experience will be valuable as she leads the PUCO.”

French presided over civil, criminal felony and administration cases for six years when she served as a judge on the Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

She also worked as a civil litigator for 14 years representing clients in business and insurance litigation, as well as representing both plaintiffs and defendants.

French will begin her term once the appointment commences.
