Deputies investigating fatal crash in Mercer Co.

MERCER COUNTY — Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened Sunday morning on County Road 219A.

The sheriff’s office received a call around 8 a.m. reporting the crash.

After investigation, crews found that Louis Badgett Jr., 57, of Celina was driving on County Road 219A just east of Dicke Road when he traveled off the side of the roadway, down into a ditch, and out into a field.

Badgett’s car rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its top, according to the sheriff’s office.

Badgett was pronounced dead on the scene.

Mercery County Sheriff Jeff Grey said due to the location of the crash and it being dark, it was likely the crash happened several hours before it was called in.

This is the fourth fatal crash in Mercer county this year.
