DAYTON — A University of Dayton star basketball player now has a business deal with a local restaurant.
DaRon Holmes II will now be the face of Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken in the Miami Valley after signing a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) contract with the franchise.

Chuck Doran, owner at Lee’s, said he has been in support of NIL contracts for college athletes. He referenced that many people are seen wearing Holmes’ jersey.
“I think there has to be some compensation for him,” Doran said.
Holmes, a freshman, said in a statement that he was excited about the his partnership with Lee’s.
“Our partnership is about having fun, supporting our team, supporting our great university and of course, great food,” Holmes said.

Doran said he hoped the partnership with Holmes as their brand ambassador would strengthen Lee’s association with UD while also helping with their staffing issues and building Holmes’ brand.
“We want to build DaRon Holmes’ brand,” Doran said. “We want to make him a recognizable person within the Dayton community.”
Lee’s said they will be working with Holmes until the end of the season and hope to work with him again next season.
