Dayton police will get body cameras after commission approves contract

DAYTON — Dayton police will soon be getting new body cameras for its officers after city commissioners voted to amend a contract with the same company that already provides the department with cruiser cameras.

The department will be getting 248 cameras as part of the contract with AXON Enterprises Inc., which was approved on Wednesday night.

The contract also upgrades the department’s existing in-car cruiser cameras and expands the license plate reader program.

The changes to the contract will cost the city an additional $822,498 through the duration of the contract, which would expire on Dec. 31, 2023.
