Dayton Metro Library set to open new branch today

DAYTON — The Dayton Metro Library is set to open a new library branch next to their Burkhardt Branch Library, located on Burkhardt Avenue in East Dayton.

According to a release, the old location closed on March 26 so staff could move into the new building.

The new 18,000 square foot Burkhardt Branch Library, located next door at 4704 Burkhardt Ave., will open to the public today, April 25, for regular Library hours, the release said.

Patrons in the neighborhood can look forward to the following amenities at the new branch:

  • Community Room with after-hours access
  • Opportunity Space for activities and exhibits
  • Six Study Rooms and a Conference Room
  • Quiet Reading Room with a fireplace
  • An outdoor reading area with tiered seating
  • A dedicated TeenEDGE space
  • A Children’s Area with a theme of “Soaring Beyond”
  • Numerous public computers and WiFi
  • In-Library laptop lending

The library said that while one Burkhardt Branch closes in preparation for the other Branch to open, patrons are invited to visit the Southeast Branch Library at 21 Watervliet Avenue.
