Dayton man arrested, accused of sexually abusing child for nearly 7 years

DAYTON — A 29-year-old Dayton man is now in jail after he was accused of sexually abusing a child for approximately seven years, according to prosecutors.

Daniel Lee Howard Mennecke was arrested this afternoon after a grand jury returned an indictment for seven counts of rape of a child, three counts of gross sexual imposition and a single count of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

Prosecutors said Mennecke sexually abused a now 13-year-old girl after she disclosed the alleged abuse to her family.

Mennecke was known to the girl’s family and prosecutors said in adding to the abuse, he also was accused of taking sexually explicit photos of the girl.

His arraignment is later this month.
