Dayton Bomb Squad called to Harrison Twp. plasma center Friday morning

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — The Dayton Bomb Squad and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a bomb threat at a Harrison Township plasma center Friday morning.

Deputies were first called to Talecris Plasma Resources on 3909 Salem Avenue at 6:37 a.m. on the report of a disorderly man in the building reporting he had a bomb, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Due to the statements made by the man, the employees evacuated the building, the release said. Employees described a piece of luggage on wheels the man had which he claimed had a bomb.

When deputies arrived to the scene, they were unable to locate the man.

The Dayton Bomb Squad was called and searched the building, but were unable to find the described luggage.

A short time later the “disorderly subject” was located further north on Salem Avenue in the lot of Rally’s on 3955 Salem Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office.

The luggage was found in the lot of Rally’s. The Dayton Bomb Squad evaluated the luggage and found it did not contain explosive material.

During the incident, Salem Avenue was closed from Detroit Avenue to Siebenthaler Avenue, but the streets have since been re-opened.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.

This incident will be reviewed for potential criminal charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
