Dad, 27, jailed in Greene County when infant daughter tests positive for drugs

A 27-year-old Fairborn dad is in the Greene County Jail on a charge accusing him of assault stemming from a positive drug test on his 10-month-old daughter.

Thomas Dexter Mixon was arrested Thursday and booked into the jail on a felony child endangering charge after questioning relating to the health of his daughter.

According to Fairborn police, officers on Nov. 17 were called to an address in the 1600 block of Superior Avenue on a report of a child found not breathing. Mixon, police said, told them his daughter had been in a hospital recently battling pneumonia.

Medics administered Narcan and the child responded to that treatment.

A subsequent drug screen of the child's urine turned up a narcotic, according to police, and a blood test on Mixon turned up a positive reading for norfentanyl, a metabolite found in fentanyl.

Two weeks later, another drug screen on the child returned positive results for Pramadol (a strong opioid-type painkiller) and norfentanyl, according to police.

Mixon told police he believed the child was exposed to narcotics when he picked her up after handling a capsule containing heroin residue he found in his vehicle. He said a friend had been in the vehicle ingesting heroin.

The child's mother told police Mixon's version of events was not true.

Mixon remained in jail Friday afternoon with bond set at $25,000. There is a hearing in the criminal case against him scheduled for Dec. 13.
