Coronavirus: Miami Valley child care cases more than double in recent weeks

MIAMI VALLEY — Cases of coronavirus at Miami Valley child care centers have more than doubled since June 24, when an outbreak at Victorum Learning Center in Dayton voluntarily shut down the facility.

Public Health officials say the case increase mirrors what’s being seen in general across the area.

According to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, 18 cases were linked child care centers in Montgomery County on June 24, with all of those cases connected to Victorum.

Since then, cases linked to child care centers in Montgomery County have jumped to 47 cases. data shows. Only one of the new cases was connected to Victorum.

News Center 7 has uncovered that in the entire viewing area there are now 64 total cases linked to child care centers. That number has increased from 27 on June 24.
