Ohio districts have to prepare to go back to school at the end of DeWine’s current stay at home order on May 1st.
News Center 7′s Molly Koweek spoke to school leaders about how they are getting ready for the unknown.
Koweek said that most district leaders were not optimistic about going back this school year and are planning for a variety of circumstances.
Ryan Guilding a spokesperson for Beavercreek city schools, said they are prepared to go back May 1st.
“We’re going to try to pick up where we left off. you know resuming things like student nutrition services, health services, our busing, classroom instruction,” explained Guilding.
Beavercreek is waiting on guidance from the governor about procedure changes.
“If social distancing, the six foot rule still applies, then we’re going to have to make some adjustments,” said Guilding.
“What exactly that looks like, we’re still discussing that.”
The head of Fairborn’s district, Gene Lolli, said buildings will have a lot of hand sanitizer.
“Every night, the custodians, upon the leaving of the students at the end of the day, they will go through their routine that we expect them to go through and make sure that it’s ready for the next day," Said Lolli.
While district leaders tell Koweek that they do not know if they will be back this spring, they all have thoroughly cleaned the schools for when students return.
