Community gathers to mourn Ohio Marine killed in training exercise crash

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio — The community gathered in eastern Ohio Friday to remember Gunnery Sergeant James Speedy who was killed last month during a training exercise in Norway.

“He was just enjoyable to be around. He followed in his dad’s footsteps,” Bob Oakley, a family friend, told our news partners at WBNS.

Speedy was laid to rest in his hometown of Cambridge and is survived by his wife and young daughter.

Three other Marines were also killed in the crash.
