A Centerville standoff has ended at the Chevy Chase Apartments nearly five hours after it began and police were not able to locate a suspect.
Officers responded to the apartments off Loganwood Drive around 3:15 a.m. on a reported family disturbance involving a man with a gun inside an apartment with a woman and children, Centerville Police spokesman John Davis said.
The woman told police the man was in the apartment and she was not permitted to leave, Davis said.
The Regional Emergency Response Team was dispatched to assist with the situation, which police initially believed could have been a hostage situation, Davis said.
Around 8:30 a.m. officers made entry into the apartment and located the woman and several children, but the man was not inside the apartment, said Davis.
No injuries were reported during the incident and the case remains under investigation.
