Cheryl Final Show Tonight Top Story

DAYTON, Ohio — She’s a legend, an icon, and a friend – Cheryl McHenry has spent the past 44 years working for WHIO-TV, most of those years as main anchor.

Today is McHenry’s final broadcast, but she will always be a true journalist and friend to us all.

Join News Center 7 starting at 5:00 to watch her final broadcast.

She joined WHIO-TV in 1981 and has spent nearly 44 years reporting on important Miami Valley news. Along the way, she earned the respect of viewers and colleagues as a dedicated and fair journalist.

“The decision to retire was not an easy one. There’s a part of me that could stay at WHIO because I enjoy the work so much,” McHenry said. “I love my coworkers, and I feel a responsibility to our viewers. However, I realize time is our most precious commodity, and I’d like to use more of my time to do other things. I look forward to spending more time with family and friends, reading a zillion books, and spending more time in nature—walking and hiking.”

Tonight, she says goodbye as a true professional in the journalism industry.
