Car crashes into Fairborn Veterans Memorial overnight

FAIRBORN — Crews responded to single vehicle crash overnight in Fairborn that damaged a veterans memorial.

Around 2:30 a.m. a car struck the Fairborn Veterans Memorial at the intersection of Central Ave. and Main St.

News Center 7 crew on scene reported that the crash caused the vehicle to flip over on its top.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, according to a press release from the Fairborn Police Department.

The City of Fairborn said in a Facebook post that the intersection of Central Ave. and Main St. will be closed as repairs are made.

We are working to learn more about what caused the accident and will continue to update this story.

There was an accident overnight that took out a good portion of the monument downtown. The intersection at Central and Main will be closed for a while as they make some repairs and secure the flag pole.
