HARRISON TWP. — A burst pipe at a Harrison Twp. apartment complex is leading fire officials to remind residents about frozen pipes as the weather starts to warm up.
Eric Jackson lives at an apartment complex on Heather Drive in Harrison Twp. He called the fire department Monday after a pipe burst in the apartment above him and flooded his apartment.
“It’s unbelievable. [I was] sitting there, watching TV and it just starts – it’s raining in there,” Jackson said.
Jackson invited News Center 7′s Xavier Hershovitz inside his apartment to see the damage.
“This floor–look, that’s a puddle. That’s a lot of water,” he said.
Jackson took our crew up to the apartment where the pipe burst.
“This whole kitchen floor is full of water, and under the sink is where the fireman turned it off,” he said.

The water wasn’t the only thing firemen shut off on Monday. Due to the first risk, they also turned off the electricity to the entire building.
“My feet are cold, my whole kitchen is flooded, I got no electricity,” Jackson said.
Harrison Twp. Fire Department Battalion Chief Dave Nangle told News Center 7 that these types of calls had “been going on nonstop.” He asked residents to be “vigilant” as temperatures start to warm up.
“It’s starting to thaw out enough so these lines are starting to break,” Nangle said.
