Polk County, Ga. — Authorities confirm with our partner station in Atlanta that two Polk County, Georgia officers have been shot.
The incident happened in the area of Santa Claus Road and Highway 100.

One officer has died from gunshot wounds and another was shot in their bullet proof vest. The officer who was shot in the vest has been treated and released from a nearby hospital.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a Blue Alert for Seth Brandon Spangler shortly after the shooting.
WSB-TV in Atlanta then confirmed that Spangler was taken into custody around 2:45 p.m.
