2 firefighters hurt, 13 dogs lost due to house fire in Springfield Twp.

SPRINGFIELD TWP. — Two Clark County firefighters were hurt and 13 dogs were lost following a house fire in Springfield Township Sunday night, according to a Clark County Sheriff’s spokesperson.

Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies and firefighters from Springfield Township were dispatched to a fully-involved residential structure fire at 17 Cherry Drive near U.S. 40 at around 7:45 p.m. The Bethel Township also provided mutual aid.

Two firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

There was significant and devastating damage to the structure and 13 dogs were lost in the fire. One dog was rescued and has been reunited with its owner.

It took several hours to extinguish due to frigid temperatures and the confined area, the spokesperson said.

The fire remains under investigation.
