1 killed, 1 injured after crash in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN — One person was killed and another was injured after a crash in Middletown Friday.

Middletown police were called to respond to a crash at the intersection of Tytus Avenue and Mabelle Street shortly before 11 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the police department.

Upon arrival, police found that a vehicle traveling on Tytus Ave. had struck a legally parked vehicle at that location, the spokesperson said.

The driver and a passenger of the vehicle in transit were severely injured and were both transported to Atrium Medical Center, the spokesperson said. The passenger later died from their injuries.

The Middletown Police Department and the Butler County Severe Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START) are currently investigating the incident.

Speed is currently being examined as a contributing factor in the crash.
