John W. Hinckley Jr, who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan March 30, 1981, could be released from a federal psychiatric hospital as early as Aug. 5, according to a report from the Washington Post.

A judge has ruled that Hinckley, 61, no longer poses a danger to society and will be released from the hospital and allowed to live with his mother in Williamsburg, Va., according to the report.
